This text was first published in a Russian newspaper in 1903. It follows the alleged meeting between Freemasons and Jewish people planning their world domination and disruption of Christian civilization. This text was forged from different sources and put together to make out this conspiracy theory of Jewish world domination. It includes sections plagiarized from a French book from 1864. The original text of the Elders was written in French but closer looks at the grammar and structure leads people to believe that it was actually written by Russians in French. What is the reason for this newspaper article being published in the first place? During this time there was a lot of political unrest within the Czar regime in Russia and it seems as if this text was published to have a scapegoat to blame issues on and as a sense of unity. I think that if they thought citizens would be disturbed by a threat to their Christianity it would bring them together more unified. This text propelled antisemitism in Russia which then spread all around. Specifically, the Nazis found inspiration for this text and used this idea of a Jewish scapegoat to blame their problems on which obviously led to the holocaust. This text also spread to countries in the Middle East in which it is still popular to this day. These ideas are also still around in the modern world, with conspiracy theorists commonly referencing them and Jewish people still have prejudices against them based off of the writings in these texts which have been proved to be untrue.
