Mein Kampf was written n 1924 during Hitler’s “prison” sentence. I say “prison” because he lived a life of luxury after trying to overthrow the government. During his trial he started to spread this propaganda he was creating and used this large issue to basically show off who he was and what he believed. He was given 5 years in prison but served ~9 months. During this time, he was worried about his political life so he decided writing a book would best serve him so the people could get a sense of who he was. When it was first published it had quite a bit of following but not nearly as much as he wanted, however once he was put into power over 850,000 copies were sold in the first year, which is crazy. After everything had happened the allies where like alright no more spreading of this (as they should) and gave the copy right claim to the Bavarian Government but of course people still translated it, posted it to online copies and even started hard cover printing it. Many people now have access to this book as the copy right was up in 2015 and has now been printed more than is honestly comforting knowing. I don’t honestly understand why anyone would want to hear Hitler just talking to talk adding really nothing more to a conversation than hatred.
