I have begun reading the Gospel of Judas, and so far it is much more detailed than the Gospel of Mary (has full context though so you can’t compare the two). However there are a lot of filler words. I think this comes from the amount of translations the Gospel has received. When Jesus talks to his disciples it is clear that they are at the utmost loyalty to him and will do anything he asks.
Jesus meets Judas and Judas already knows who Jesus truly is. Some similarities between both gospels we have read is there are many parts missing from the Gospel of Judas as well and the filler that the author adds in is just a guess. We could all be reading this gospel entirely wrong. However this aspect adds to the speculation on what is the meaning behind this gospel.
Jesus tells Judas what will happen to every human when they die. This is a huge aspect of this gospel. Any Christian wondering what happens after death can and should be referred to this gospel. Judas tells Jesus he has seen a vast house (The Holy Kingdom) and Jesus tells Judas not to worry about it as no mortal will ever be able to enter. The Gospel of Judas also talks about the creation of the original angels. I have never heard this story before so it was fun to learn about them. In the end of the gospel it states that Judas had betrayed Jesus for a lump sum of money.
This shocked me as Jesus did nothing but answer Judas out with his visions and questions. However, this is a great example of how Jesus only cares for others, even if they are a devil-spawn (evil). It is a shame that forty percent of this gospel is missing. It made it a bit difficult to read and understand at times, however using context clues I did my best to understand it.
