In this blog post I want to talk about the story “Maus” volume I. In this story Art Spiegelman writes the comic template story about a typical mouse family living through the holocaust. It started out from the beginning when the son asked the father about his past to write a comic story and the father talking to his son (grown up now) about how he met his mother who is now dead.before meeting his dead wife he had an old girlfriend who seemed pretty crazy for not letting the father go. He later met his ex wife through a cousin and the last ex girlfriend went crazy and set up some sort of drama like the young mouse’s mother. Causing them to break up, but love for the win. Later the text was talking about the parents having kids. The first born son grew up and fought in the war, but unfortunately was killed. Later in the story’s timeline the parents had another kid who unfortunately almost died trying to get in the world. The doctor had to break his arm inorder to get free. Now his arm has a twitch and it’s like the Hitler’s salute. Later the author just went on to explain how the holocaust happened.

   The fact that the story was in a comic template; it gave the reader more visuals of the point of view of the author about going through the holocaust. As a reader proceeds to read this story, it feels like one can understand.

The Story of a Life in the Forest

The Gospel of Mary was written in the 2nd century and disappeared for over 15 hundred years until a copy was found in Coptic transition in the late 19th century {Estimably around Jan 1896 at the market in Cairo}. The text was a radical interpretation of Jesus’ teachings as a path to inner spiritual knowledge. Now who is Mary Magdalen ? She was a prostitute, arguing for the legitimacy of women’s leadership. The text Gospel of Mary has the 1st 6 pages lost. Many people did not agree with Mary’s teachings. For one Andrew (one of Jesus’ disciples) objected that her teachings were strange. Peter (another disciple of Jesus) declined that Jesus would give such teachings to a woman. Now looking at today’s date; the material of which the book was made from; it looked fake. The book couldn’t have survived that long in an open air so someone tried to replicate it. In my opinion with all we know; this could be a fake story. As a Christian I don’t believe this has been written through the Holy Spirit like the rest of the bible.

For the library assignment I chose to do it on Raymond Boudoun thoughts on Sociology. Throughout the search of his sociology theories I came across the book “Theories of Social Change”. It talks about the Boudons perspectives of the change in Sociology. I was reading the first few pages and then I looked through the UMW Library website to see if he wrote any more books. That’s when I came across “The Art of Self-Persuasion” book. Also through the UMW library website I found out through filters about articles Raymond wrote. And I found the Articles “‘Analytical sociology’ and the explanation of beliefs” and “Beyond Rational Choice Theory”. Using the UMW library site helped me get a better understanding of where I could find my sources and have proof for them.
