“Of Conspiracy theories” contained an unbiased word choice that made for a well-written academic journal. The tone used makes it hard for the reader to pick a specific side. In this case, having an unbiased opinion is important. Due to the recent works of literature discussed in class, an unbiased journal was surprising yet a nice change of pace. It was nice and interesting to read an intellectual journal rather than an extremist work of literature. “Of Conspiracy Theories” discusses the importance of debunking and analyzing conspiracies.

Furthermore, this journal entry shows that the audience must find an
opportunity to fully analyze conspiracies in order to get the true facts. Analyzing
the theory could be done by reading journals, new articles, or by simply
verifying the source of the information. If the reader does not do research
about the conspiracy before telling someone else about the theory, it can spread
and create a negative impact.

The impact of spreading a conspiracy depends on the type of conspiracy. Some
conspiracies are just a harmless joke. A recent example of this is one I heard
floating around my high school about a year ago. The conspiracy theory says
that birds aren’t real and are instead government drones built to spy on people
living in the U.S. This specific conspiracy was a harmless joke, because it did
not cause damage to anyone or anything. Others, however, can cause fear or
significant damage. In the Journal, there is a conspiracy regarding the
explosion in Oklahoma City. This conspiracy was dangerous because it struck
fear into the people. Fear can cause unnecessary anger and violence. debunking
a theory by doing research is the best idea to make sure it doesn’t get out of
hand.
