This writing is a hateful, fabricated text that was published in 19th century Russia. This book was a main source of rationale for anti-semitism during this time period. The contents of this book include a fabricated tale about how the Jewish and Freemasons had plans for world domination. It was said that they wanted to disrupt the already established Christian civilization to replace it with their ruling. There are lots of mentions of violence of men to get “the best results” from the country. One quote from this story talks about how means of violence and intimidation can get you farther than academic discussions could. If this plan was failed, it was said that “all capitals of Europe would be sabotaged”. This anti-semetic text is essentially a justification as to hating the Jewish because they had a “master plan”. Another excerpt I found from this text is “we command the respect of all countries, who well know that we have the power to create upheavals at will, or else to restore order.” I find this text revolting because of the idea that it was written to give certain groups of people a bad name. I believe this idea from the story comes from the time period when the major religion was Christianity and other religions were viewed as threats. This is why they add in details like “subverting Christendom” to support the idea that any religion other than basic Christianity will destroy the country. Overall, this text was hard to read because of the amount of forgery that was included, but I thought it was interesting to see the amount of hate that some people do indeed carry when their beliefs are put into question.
