This book was unlike anything I’ve ever read. I wouldn’t recommend this book because of it’s incredibly descriptive sexual abuse and torment they inflicted on kids. As mentioned in class, the book was written while Sade was imprisoned in the Bastille. I think he wrote this to get a shock out of people and to maybe create a fantasy world of his own while he was imprisoned. One of the parts I found to be interesting was when he would listen to stories by old prostitutes and try to recreate those stories on the kids enslaved. Another interesting fact is that these kids ranged in ages from pre-k to middle school. I think this book is really messed up, especially with all the murders in the ending. I’m glad I have read this so I can add it to my list, but I wouldn’t read it again.
