Is this satirizing manifestos, radical feminists, or both? If the events of Valerie Solanas’s life mean anything then she’s less likely to be poking fun at fellow shit stirrers as much as she’s raising the stakes through hyperbole, exaggeration, and shock value. this 16 page tirade on men and women in some cases captures some of the raw unbridled ideals of the ultra feminist movement. This was counter culture. Despite the vulgarity of it all, I believe that their are things being said here that hold some truth. There is no lies when it is said that men run countries as statistically, they do. That being said, the lengths Solanas takes to tear down the male patriarchy is quite extreme. on top of this, Solanas does not hold back when referring to some women, and even the LGBTQ+ community. This is fleshed out when referring to men who become drag queens as soles beings who want total conformity to the women. Gay men are also referred to as trying to suppress masculinity by presenting feminine qualities. There were some “creative” words for men not limited to referring to them as “walking dildos”. Throughout the piece I also drew many paroles to Freuds theory of femininity. This manifests itself through comments about childhood trauma on the fathers part and a need for men to try and fit the role of a “daddy”. This section could be a result of Solana’s childhood filled with abuse and neglect from both her parents and grandparents. the topic of sex is covered in this text as men are depicted to be on a conquest for sex and the only drive for sex is to feel gratification. Men are even compared to apes, however are considered less as men have negative emotions such as hatred and bigotry.
