The Protocols of the Elders of Zion was intentionally written to spread lies about Jews and to blame them for wrongs in the world. The writing is one of the most widely spread antisemitic texts. To many, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion may seem like a real and legit text, however, according to sources such as the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the text was deliberately written to spread hatred against the Jewish community. When the text was being distributed, the ones who spread it claimed that the Jews were planning world domination. However, once again this is a lie and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum stated that the idea of the Jewish people planning world domination and the leaders, the Elders of Zion, never existed.
According to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, parts of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion was published in a Russian newspaper in 1903. However, the version of the text that was translated multiple times was published in Russia in 1905 as an appendix to The Great is the Small: The Coming of the Anti-Christ and the Rule of Satan on Earth by Sergei Nilus. After the Russian Revolution of 1917, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion was then brought to the West which resulted in the spread of the text around the world. Then in 1920, Henry Ford’s Newspaper, The Dearborn Independent, released a series of articles pieced with the Protocols. Then a book that included the series, called The International Jew, was published and was translated into multiple languages. The book was applauded by Adolf Hitler and Joseph Goebbels. It was not till 1921 when the London Times stated that The Protocols of the Elders of Zion was plagiarism.
Even though there is evidence of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion being created to create hatred towards Jews, there were and possibly are still people that believe this text is true.
