SCUM Manifesto:
I’m not sure if all radical conspiracy theories are written in generally the same way, but SCUM manifesto was quite similar to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. It was not as humorous, though, as the perspective was entirely different, being from a neutral standpoint as opposed to the perspective of the ‘conspiracy net organizers’ (in this case, men). Instead, the format was that the author would make a claim, then maybe back it up with some “evidence”. The message in all of these was either “men bad” or “women brainwashed by men bad”. Near the end of the manifesto, it started fantasizing about what a SCUM world would look like, and it involved quite a lot of murder, which isn’t surprising given that the author murdered someone in real life.
Much of the basis of the manifesto’s claims were psychological which used less than hard evidence. The most outlandish, however, was that men actively interfere with the progress of medicine, and that all diseases, including death, can be cured. With men gone, all women will be immortal. This is obviously incorrect, but in this world that the author has constructed, men are systematically lying and brainwashing creating what society is now. This kind of clashes with her argument about men being inferior to women in every way, as it can be inferred that men aren’t smart enough to effectively brainwash a woman.
